Asscher Cut

A square step cut developed in 1902 by Joseph Asscher in Amsterdam. The Royal Asscher Cut (patented 2001) adds 58 facets and a higher crown. Often misidentified as a square emerald cut — the cropped corners and X pattern are the giveaway.
